So You Want to Build a Baggo?

One project Melissa and her Dad wanted to accomplish this summer was the building of a Baggo/Cornhole game. If you're unfamiliar with Baggo think of horseshoes played with bean bags. It's a great summertime game for the backyard. When she returns to school in the fall, Melissa will be in an apartment with three other girls and she wanted to have a Baggo game to past the time when she isn't studying (umm... right).

After a quick Google search, Dad found blueprints and instructions for building the pair of wooden boxes from a single sheet of plywood. On Father's Day, they drove to the local hardware mega-store where everything was purchased. Well, Dad actually purchased everything, but what else is new!

To put it kindly, Dad's not going to win any awards for his carpentry skills and he was certain that any attempt to cut a four foot long straight line in plywood would look like a zig-zag pattern reminiscent of Archer Avenue, but after practicing on a few of the smaller cuts, the results were good enough as to not be embarrassing. Melissa got into the fun by making a few cuts of her own!

After three hours of cutting, nailing and painting, the baggo boxes were built and had a base coat of primer. Melissa will finish the boxes by painting colorful 1960's beatnik designs. The bean bags will be ordered online to complete the game.

Enjoy a few pictures of the project in the Gallery.
